A new study led by SFU’s Britton Lab describes a rapid method for generating large libraries of nucleoside analogues for antiviral drug discovery. As part of the collaboration, the Pantophlet Lab screened the compound library against HIV-1, identifying three compounds with activity comparable to approved HIV therapies. The study was published in Science.

Dr. Britton explains in the video below how the new approach could accelerate early-stage antiviral drug discovery by enabling much larger libraries of nucleoside analogues to be generated and screened.
