We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Canada’s former Minister of Science and Minister of Sport (2015–2019). Dr. Duncan played a significant role in strengthening support for Canadian research and research infrastructure.
In March 2019, Minister Duncan visited Simon Fraser University and the Pantophlet Laboratory to announce federal funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation to support research on infectious diseases at SFU. We are thankful for her advocacy for Canadian science and the overall research ecosystem.
